Vivitar Ultra Wide and Slim Camera Limited Edition Box Set

When Vivitar created the Ultra Wide and Slim, they sought out to produce a cheap point and shoot film camera for the masses. What they achieved was legendary. With it’s wide angle 22mm lens, the Ultra Wide and Slim framed each image with a strong vignette.

Four Corner Store has acquired a limited run of 75 factory fresh, brand new Vivitar Ultra Wide and Slims. This extremely rare camera gave birth to the 35mm toy camera movement, and now is your chance to own one of the most coveted cameras ever.

Each of our Ultra Wide and Slims are presented in a hand made wooden box by the Nezinscot Guild of Turner, Maine. Carefully wrapped in a Four Corner Store drawstring bag, every box will be hand numbered and contain a roll of the world famous C-41 Black and White film.

This may be the last chance you will have to own a brand new Vivitar Ultra Wide and Slim.

BKLYN Dry Goods x D.S. & Durga Spent Musket Oil Fragrance

Brooklyn Navy Yard born & bred vintage pop-up brand, BKLYN Dry Goods launched their first scent, the aptly named Spent Musket Oil with D.S. & Durga during New York’s biggest fragrance event this week. With a limited release of just 175 50ml bottles, Spent Musket Oil takes it’s cue from the other worldly aroma of a Barbary Wars-era rifle found in the hold of a packet ship in the Brooklyn Navy Yards with accords of vintage birch wood, spent rifle oil and dried leather hilt warmed by Cavendish tobacco. Using D.S. & Durga’s bottle, BKLYN Dry Goods wrapped the French-made glass vessel in leather cord, affixing to it a pair of custom-inscribed stainless military dog-tags. Spent Musket Oil will be available in the coming weeks at select shops throughout the country, BKLYN Dry Goods’ own website and through the brand’s monthly pop-up shops.

Beloved Cycles “There and Back”

Long time cycle craftsman Chris King (three decades of experience in the industry certainly qualifies as a long time) has released quite the majestic frame, epically titled “There and Back.” Smothered in a kingly coat of gold flake paint, this frame offers an impressive range versatility, allowing for fender modifications and capable of a smooth ride thanks to the support of wide tires. White handlebar tape and seat only add to the ethereal nature of the bike, which expertly models the motto of Portland based Beloved Cycles, the shop where Chris dreamed up this incredible piece of machinery: “Let Us Chase the Sun.”

Adams Speedline Fast 12 Driver and Fairway Woods

When you hear the words “larger” and “curves” used to to describe something, a golf club isn’t exactly the first thing that springs to mind. At 9% larger than last year’s F11, the 2012 Adams Speedline Fast 12 Driver ($349) was designed with aerodynamics in mind. Featuring their Airfoil technology, the F12 has a few extra curves in all the right places. Although unique in appearance, by using recessed curves on the crown, Adams was able to produce a 14% reduction in drag and improve club head speed by 3 mph. Continuing with the aerodynamic theme, Adams pairs the F12 with a Graffaloy ProLaunch Blue shaft with Speed Coat Technology to further reduce drag.

Continues after the jump.

Also unconventional in appearance, the Speedline Fast Fairway Wood 12 ($249) delivers the kind of performance that brings home Golf Digest Hot List bacon and the kind you want to have in your bag. Featuring their second generation Velocity Slot Technology, VST is essentially a slot within a slot. With this design, Adams is able to create a thinner and more flexible design that delivers a club face with everything you love most: more distance, higher ball speeds, launch angles, increased forgiveness, all without increasing spin.

With the start of golf season only a few months away, now’s about the time to dust off your old clubs and trade them in. With an optimum mix for performance, playability, and forgiveness, Adams’ 2012 line of Speedline Fast Drivers and Fairway Woods are sure to get your season off to a good start.

Tricker’s Footwear Autumn/Winter 2012

More Autumn/Winter 2012 previews; the latest from the Tricker’s brand of footwear. The leather as well as colors may be familiar, as are the shapes, but pay close attention to new applications in pattern. The formal wingtip received a fresh application on the toe cap… we’d love to know your thoughts on this and the collection as a whole… again, just a preview. We’ll show a more complete look at the collection sometime this summer.

The Sunday Read

ivyleague.jpg

Assouline gives us a look inside America's most prestigious universities in their latest book,The Ivy League:
"Much more than a grouping of eight colleges and universities, the Ivy League—with its hallowed halls, private clubs, and grassy quadrangles—is the consummate reward of the American Dream. Captured in countless novels, films, and television shows, and mentioned in everyday conversations around the globe, these centuries-old institutions stand proudly as universal symbols of one of America’s greatest strengths—its world-renowned education system. Representing the apex of academic achievement, the Ivy League is also a gateway to the socially powerful and elite, making it the wish of all parents for their children. But that’s only the beginning. Taking a close-up look at each of these campuses, Harvard alumnus Daniel Cappello illustrates the unique spirit of each school and determines what sets them apart—from the presidents they’ve trained to the silver-screen characters they’ve inspired; from the size of their endowments to the number of celebrities they enroll; from dominant political stances to athletic rivalries, architectural styles, and popular fashion."

Louis Vuitton 2012 Fall/Winter Collection

At the root of Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2012 collection, designer Kim Jones looked to create a link between the international cultural capitals of Paris and London. The connection is not as far-fetched as one would imagine, dating back to the days of Louis Vuitton’s son, Georges Vuitton who held an affinity for Tokyo. Further reinforcing a statement of connection, Kim Jones sourced fashion illustrator Antonio Lopez who was among the first to actively take to Tokyo for inspiration trips. The result was the use of exquisite fabrics of laboriousness nature included woven silk made to the tune of only 20 cm per day as well as a selection of exotic leathers. Detailing was a strong suit for the whole line which offered a real world connection with its intangible concepts.

The Glenrothes 1985 Vintage Scotch Whisky

The Glenrothes Whisky’s vintage release program brings some very interesting drams to market, including the1985 Vintage ($110). This whisky was laid down in barrels in 1985 and first bottled in 1997 as a 12-year old expression. It was a hit, so the company decided to age those original whisky stocks even longer and bottle it again in 2005 as a 20-year old expression. The result is a full-flavored, oaky whisky that shows more character, complexity and delicacy than its 12-year old forebear.
The Glenrothes 1985 Vintage has a rich bouquet of dried fruits, vanilla and lots of cooked orange notes that evoke feelings of the fall. It’s very smooth and velvety on the palate, with flavors ranging from oaky honey and vanilla to white grapes. Its lengthy finish balances between mild sweetness and dry oak.
Overall it’s a complex, authoritative whisky that makes a lovely after-dinner drink, and it’s the perfect companion to a comfortable chair and a good book. The 1985 Glenrothes is the last of the vintage to be bottled, so get it while it lasts.

The Sunday Drive and Ride Combo…...

Talk about a match made in motoring heaven. Merc and Ducati have partnered to create a worthy collaboration of two and four wheeled beauties. The Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG and Ducati Streetfighter 848 adorned in ‘Streetfighter Yellow’ showcase performance in a rare color that MB might just bring to their line of cars if enough customers call for it. The motorcycle has been pumped with engine tweaks and updated ergonomics, and the beastly SLK 55 AMG sports yellow LED door sills and yellow stitching on the black door panels, shift knob and steering wheel. If you can afford both, you’re probably in the 1%.
