Video: LANVIN Spring/Summer 2012 Ad Campaign produced by Pharrell Williams

Pharrell still surprises us and aside from producing music, continues to satisfy his creative inner beast with other interesting projects. The latest one you see here below – he produced the music to the new Lanvin Spring/Summer 2012 Ad Campaign. The imagery and video was produced by Steven Meisel. Lanvin once again surprises with an interesting and unexpected ad campaign this season.
“An exotic and festive dinner party.
Who will take a bite of the forbidden apple?: the angel or the snake???
You can always count on Lanvin to shake up the party!
Music: 18 year old Bronx, NY-born artist Maxine Ashley first caught the attention of super-producer Pharrell Williams on YouTube. Immediately impressed with her signature sound, soulful vocals with an edgy pop attitude, he signed her to his record label, i am OTHER entertainment. “Cookieman,” written and produced by Pharrell, is the first single off of Maxine’s upcoming debut album.”

People at the helm of Apple, like Jony Ives and the late Steve Jobs, tend to get all of the credit for the company’s constant innovation. Startups like the Nest Learning Thermostat and Flipboard, which were both founded by Apple alums, proved though that Cupertino’s talent pool is incredibly deep and certainly capable of innovating in all kinds of categories.
In2technologies is a new player in the home theater space, developed by former Apple Audio Lab head Tod Beauchamp, and Sony engineering exec Mike Fidler. Together, they have re-thought the home theater in the same way Jobs approached personal computing, with the goal of making make home audio systems more consumer friendly and easier to setup. Their Unity all-in-one home theater system combines a left, right, and center speaker sound bar with, a TV stand, dual subwoofers, DVD/Blu-ray player, and iPad/iPhone dock into one cohesive unit, which then connects to a flatscreen using a single HDMI 1.4 cable. Wireless rears are also included for a fully immersive 5.1 surround sound experience.
That tight level of integration allows consumers to setup an excellent sounding home entertainment system in under 15 minutes. It’s also quite space-conscious, and oozes with Apple-esq aesthetics. The final cost for this breezy beautiful setup is still undisclosed, but don’t expect anything less than $1,000. You didn’t think sleek convenience like this would come cheap, did you?

Porsche 911 | Evolution of Porsche Identity Video

The Porsche 911 has been the pride and joy of the prestigious automaker for decades and continues to set the bar for what a sports car should be. With this video, we get to see how the brand and its 911 have evolved over the years. “Our identity is the 911. This is especially true, even in the 21st century. Instantly recognisable and originally engineered for the racetrack, it continues to stir the emotions today, just as it did in 1963.” Video below.

The Panerai 448 and 449 S.L.C.: Two Special Edition Radiomirs

Last year’s release of the Historic Collection 1950 Luminor PAM 00372 , with its ecru lume and Plexiglas crystal, had salivating Panerai aficionados running to boutiques to get on waiting lists. This year’s Radiomir California and S.L.C. Special Editions should continue to feed the addiction for vintage-inspired Panerais. The two models, known by their references, PAM 00448 and 00449, respectively, are faithful versions of two famous Panerais of the 1930s.

The California and S.L.C. models are differentiated by dial only. The former features the famous Arabic / Roman numeral dial that was originally made as a sample dial that Panerai used to show the different markers that could be had on their watches. Legend has it that a buyer from California liked the hybrid dial so much, he ordered it that way. The latter is a minimalist dial with the simplest of markings that was first created in the ‘30s to test out the radium luminescence.

Besides the dials, the 448 and 449 feature the familiar 47mm steel Radiomir case with wire lug strap attachments and, for these boutique editions, blue-edged hands and a thick Plexiglas crystal. The cases have the word, “Vintage” engraved below the 6 o’clock strap loop and the word, “California” or “SLC” engraved on the rehaut above 12 o’clock.

500 of each Radiomir Special Edition will be made and sold through Panerai boutiques only. No word yet on pricing but we suspect the Panerai faithful will line up with wallets open. Standard editions of each are also available but with sapphire crystals and white hands.

Cole Haan LunarGrand Wingtip

Cole Haan LunarGrand Wingtip Shoes

Today we take a closer look at the much talked about Cole Haan LunarGrand Wingtip. The Nike Lunar outer sole has become very popular over the last year and we all know what has happened with the classic Wingtip Brogue ever since the heritage trend really hit us. Putting the two together seems like the right next thing to do.
Our opinions are split on t he shoe. Never having been a big fan of hybrids, we do understand the thinking and even the ideas behind the new silhouette – offering a classic, yet comfortable, shoe with a nice twist. Only time will tell how successful the shoe will end up being. Cole Haan being owned by Nike, it is interesting seeing their sharing of technology across the board. We have seen it with AIR before and now Lunar is next.
Priced at 248 USD, the Cole Haan LunarGrand Wingtip shoe will come in overall 5 colorways, exclusively at the Cole Haan New York store from February 10th, 2012.

BKLYN Dry Goods x D.S. & Durga Spent Musket Oil Fragrance

Brooklyn Navy Yard born & bred vintage pop-up brand, BKLYN Dry Goods launched their first scent, the aptly named Spent Musket Oil with D.S. & Durga during New York’s biggest fragrance event this week. With a limited release of just 175 50ml bottles, Spent Musket Oil takes it’s cue from the other worldly aroma of a Barbary Wars-era rifle found in the hold of a packet ship in the Brooklyn Navy Yards with accords of vintage birch wood, spent rifle oil and dried leather hilt warmed by Cavendish tobacco. Using D.S. & Durga’s bottle, BKLYN Dry Goods wrapped the French-made glass vessel in leather cord, affixing to it a pair of custom-inscribed stainless military dog-tags. Spent Musket Oil will be available in the coming weeks at select shops throughout the country, BKLYN Dry Goods’ own website and through the brand’s monthly pop-up shops.

Long time cycle craftsman Chris King (three decades of experience in the industry certainly qualifies as a long time) has released quite the majestic frame, epically titled “There and Back.” Smothered in a kingly coat of gold flake paint, this frame offers an impressive range versatility, allowing for fender modifications and capable of a smooth ride thanks to the support of wide tires. White handlebar tape and seat only add to the ethereal nature of the bike, which expertly models the motto of Portland based Beloved Cycles, the shop where Chris dreamed up this incredible piece of machinery: “Let Us Chase the Sun.”

Adams Speedline Fast 12 Driver and Fairway Woods

When you hear the words “larger” and “curves” used to to describe something, a golf club isn’t exactly the first thing that springs to mind. At 9% larger than last year’s F11, the 2012 Adams Speedline Fast 12 Driver ($349) was designed with aerodynamics in mind. Featuring their Airfoil technology, the F12 has a few extra curves in all the right places. Although unique in appearance, by using recessed curves on the crown, Adams was able to produce a 14% reduction in drag and improve club head speed by 3 mph. Continuing with the aerodynamic theme, Adams pairs the F12 with a Graffaloy ProLaunch Blue shaft with Speed Coat Technology to further reduce drag.

Continues after the jump.

Also unconventional in appearance, the Speedline Fast Fairway Wood 12 ($249) delivers the kind of performance that brings home Golf Digest Hot List bacon and the kind you want to have in your bag. Featuring their second generation Velocity Slot Technology, VST is essentially a slot within a slot. With this design, Adams is able to create a thinner and more flexible design that delivers a club face with everything you love most: more distance, higher ball speeds, launch angles, increased forgiveness, all without increasing spin.

With the start of golf season only a few months away, now’s about the time to dust off your old clubs and trade them in. With an optimum mix for performance, playability, and forgiveness, Adams’ 2012 line of Speedline Fast Drivers and Fairway Woods are sure to get your season off to a good start.

Tricker’s Footwear Autumn/Winter 2012

More Autumn/Winter 2012 previews; the latest from the Tricker’s brand of footwear. The leather as well as colors may be familiar, as are the shapes, but pay close attention to new applications in pattern. The formal wingtip received a fresh application on the toe cap… we’d love to know your thoughts on this and the collection as a whole… again, just a preview. We’ll show a more complete look at the collection sometime this summer.
