So , about 5 years ago I was working with an interior designer on developing a retail space for am well known Italian Foods Co, to remain nameless. Anyway I was so taken by the craftsmanship and design of his bag, I had to quietly do some research. That's when I discovered Billykirk. At the time they had an only few classic designs. Since they have expanded the brand , and even done a few design collaborations with other popular designers. Belvedere Red vodka

8 limes wedges

1 tsp sugar

Crush sugar into the lime wedges with a spoon. Place the lime wedges in the bottom of an 8 oz. glass. Cover with crushed ice, fill glass with vodka, and serve.

Lagomorph Design Bike

The Black Walnut Frame and Fork Stem bike from Lagomorph Designs is a gorgeous, simplistic rendering of the modern bicycle. While most bicycles now a day’s are built more with durability and easy ridership in mind, Lagomorph’s latest design is geared more towards high fashion and style. The bike sports world class craftsmanship, and while it isn’t practical for strenuous riding, the bike does provide riders with a gorgeous retro form of transportation.

Tech Tuesday……Sony Tablets

Sony joins the tablet battle as it unveils two new models to hit the market soon. Dubbed simply S and P, both models are Sony’s first foray into Android tablets. Featuring a 9.4-inch IPS display that features Sony’s very own TruBlack and Bravia technologies, the “S” model is Wi-Fi-enabled and comes in 16GB and 32GB sizes. It is also capable of cross-device connectivity as it comes with an IR port on the backside which can be used to control Sony Bravia TVs, while Bluetooth connectivity allows the device to interact with the PS3. The P model on the other hand is a clamshell device that comes with two five-inch 1024 x 480 screens. It can work independently or together depending on certain applications used.

The Thursday Cocktail Recipe…for the Weekend

OLD ANCHO COCKTAIL

1.5 oz mezcal
1 lime, quartered
0.75 oz ancho chili syrup
5-6 mint leaves
Top with a good quality tonic

Muddle lime, mint and ancho syrup in shaker. Add mezcal and shake over ice. Strain into a cocktailglass with crushed ice. Top with tonic. Garnish mint and a speared ancho chili.

The mezcal and the acho syrup goes well together i think even though the mezcal somewhat overpowers the flavors of the syrup due to its smokiness. Nevertheless these two are friends. I find this cocktail quite refreshing. The ice also mellows the flavours a bit.

INSA “Girls On Bikes” Project

INSA‘s ongoing public project combines the best of girls, bikes and murals to define his “Girls On Bikes” project. Scantily clad women are a mainstay but should not be the main focus as the dialog between commoditized bikes and his murals is meant to question our “own perceptions of ownership of space, sexuality and belonging(s).” More can be seen over at INSA’s site as the current body of work includes 12 participants spanning LA, Hong Kong, London, San Francisco and Ghent.

Some fresh looks at the 2012 M-Class from Mercedes-Benz. The crossover from Mercedes-Benz gets a refresh in many aspects including the suspension system that it shares with Daimler family member, Jeep Grand Cherokee. The interior find the usual strong range of options from the automaker including a full seven inch color display in the center dash console. Three deisgnations will be offered in the new M-Class: the ML250 Bluetec, ML350 Bluetec and ML350 BlueEfficiency (with the former two as the only options for the North American market). The new “on and offroad” package rounds up the decision making for buyers.

Reyka Vodka

In the world of vodka, there’s more parity than any other spirit category, and there’s seemingly a new vodka on the market each week. Given the competition, most resort to lifestyle claims for differentiation tactics – and to justify steep prices – rather than focusing on what’s in the bottle. Bucking that trend is Reyka Vodka ($18), a small batch product from Iceland, which recently won top honors amongst vodkas at the International Wine and Spirits Competition.

Reyka Vodka is produced with a Carter Head still, one of only six in the world, and the only one used for vodka production. The spirit is distilled from wheat and barley, filtered through ancient lava rocks and blended with arctic spring water for a clean, pure vodka that’s uniquely Icelandic. Surely Vikings drank similar stuff.
